Delphine L. Chen
A Seattle-based nuclear medicine physician-scientist who ran the first human trial of a PET tracer that shows whether a tumour will respond to PARP-inhibitor drugs, and who now directs nuclear medicine and molecular imaging therapy at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
Overview
Delphine Chen holds the Wil B. Nelp, MD Endowed Professorship in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Washington and directs Molecular Imaging and Therapy at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a role she has held since 2019; from January 2026 she also became Clinical Research Director for Radiology at Fred Hutch. She was principal investigator on the first-in-human trial of 18F-fluorthanatrace (18F-FTT), a PET tracer for imaging PARP-1 expression to help predict response to PARP-inhibitor drugs, developed with a patent held by Washington University.
Her clinical practice covers the full range of oncologic PET and nuclear medicine therapies, and she has led trials using 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET to predict prostate cancer response to standard therapies. She currently serves SNMMI as President of the Center for Molecular Imaging, Innovation, and Translation.
