Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging
The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging represents US nuclear medicine and publishes the Journal of Nuclear Medicine; its annual meeting is where new PET tracers and radioligand therapy results are presented, and its procedure standards guide PSMA and somatostatin receptor imaging.
Overview
Founded in 1954 as the Society of Nuclear Medicine, SNMMI represents physicians, technologists and scientists in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging and publishes the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Its annual meeting is where new PET tracers and radioligand therapy results are presented, its procedure standards and appropriate use criteria guide PSMA PET, FDG PET and somatostatin receptor imaging, and its Clinical Trials Network qualifies sites and scanners for multicentre trials. SNMMI runs the Mars Shot fund for radiopharmaceutical research, the Value Initiative on access and reimbursement, and dosimetry and radiation safety education, and it partners with EANM on joint guidelines and the theranostics centres of excellence programme.

A Seattle-based nuclear medicine physician-scientist who ran the first human trial of a PET tracer that shows whether a tumour will respond to PARP-inhibitor drugs, and who now directs nuclear medicine and molecular imaging therapy at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
A nuclear medicine doctor who spent 25 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering developing radioactive antibody treatments, including therapies for children with neuroblastoma, before moving to lead nuclear medicine at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in 2025.
Long-serving CEO of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
Nuclear medicine physician who established PET response criteria and leads Munich's radiopharmaceutical development pipeline.
