Journal of Nuclear Cardiology
The official journal of the American nuclear cardiology society, covering heart scans that use radioactive tracers.
Overview
The Journal of Nuclear Cardiology has published since 1994 and is the official journal of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC); its founding editor was Barry L. Zaret and its current editor-in-chief is Marcelo Di Carli. It covers diagnostic interpretation, imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear cardiology, publishing original research, ASNC society guidelines, and discussion of the subspecialty's current and future role alongside competing cardiac imaging modalities.
The journal was published by Springer for most of its history and moved to Elsevier as publisher in collaboration with ASNC; both the journal's own and Wikipedia's account describe it as still the society's official publication. It is a natural venue for radiopharmaceutical records tied to myocardial perfusion imaging, for example 18F-flurpiridaz PET, and for guideline documents co-authored with SNMMI and ACNM.
According to Wikipedia, citing the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate, released 2026), its impact factor is 3.0, up from 2.7 in the prior (2024) release.
