Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine
Japan's national society for nuclear medicine: it runs the country's annual nuclear medicine meeting and publishes its journals.
Overview
The JSNM was established in 1964 and states a membership of about 3,600. It publishes two journals: Annals of Nuclear Medicine (id: annals-of-nuclear-medicine), its English-language journal, and the Japanese-language Kaku Igaku. Its annual scientific meeting is the main venue for Japanese nuclear medicine data: the 66th meeting runs 19 to 21 November 2026 in Himeji and the 67th on 11 to 13 November 2027 in Omiya.
Japan matters to this corpus for two reasons that its society meetings track directly. Approvals arrive later than in the US or EU but are well documented in English by the PMDA - Lutathera in June 2021, Pluvicto and Locametz in September 2025. And Japan is import-dependent for the molybdenum-99 that feeds its technetium-99m generators, which makes domestic isotope supply a standing agenda item rather than a background concern.
