Journal of Clinical Oncology
The Journal of Clinical Oncology is ASCO's flagship journal and the workhorse of clinical oncology, publishing trials, ASCO guidelines, and the abstract supplements for the ASCO Annual Meeting.
Overview
JCO publishes three issues a month, carrying phase 2 and 3 trials across all tumour types, ASCO clinical practice guidelines (for example on immune-related adverse events), health-services and survivorship research, and the annual-meeting abstract supplements that make it the most cited oncology journal by volume. Hybrid access; guidelines are free. Sister titles include JCO Precision Oncology, JCO Oncology Practice and JCO Global Oncology.
An alpha-emitting radioactive drug built on a PSMA-targeting antibody, rather than the small-molecule ligands used in existing PSMA therapies, was safe enough to move into further testing and shrank PSA in roughly a third to a half of heavily pre-treated men, including some whose cancer had already stopped responding to lutetium-177 PSMA therapy.
People treated with the radioactive drug lutetium-177 dotatate kept feeling well for much longer - years rather than months, in several measures - than people on the standard high-dose hormone injection, on top of the tumour-control benefit already shown.
FDG-PET is standard for residual seminoma masses larger than 3 cm after chemotherapy, sparing most men surgery.
Neuroendocrine tumour specialist who helps design the trials that set treatment for these rare cancers.
Paediatric oncologist whose trials established transplant and 13-cis-retinoic acid for high-risk neuroblastoma.
Prostate oncologist studying how tumours transform to escape hormone therapy and how to target them with radioligands.
A cancer doctor at Weill Cornell in New York who has spent two decades testing PSMA-targeted radioactive treatments for prostate cancer, from the first antibody versions through to lutetium-177 PSMA-617.
Nuclear medicine physician who established PET response criteria and leads Munich's radiopharmaceutical development pipeline.
