ICRP publications and dose coefficient databases
The international body that sets the reference numbers used to work out how much radiation dose a patient, worker or member of the public gets, published as reports and downloadable spreadsheets.
Overview
The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) publishes Annals of the ICRP, the series that includes the reference decay-data compilation (Publication 107), the reference phantom anatomy (Publication 110) used by dosimetry projects such as OpenDose, and the successive compendia of dose coefficients for intakes of radionuclides by workers and the public (Publications 68, 72, 119, 130, 134, 137, 141, 151, 158 and related Occupational Intakes of Radionuclides and Public Intakes of Radionuclides series).
Alongside the journal articles, ICRP releases free companion tools: a Dose Viewer mobile app, Electronic Annex/Data Viewer packages for the OIR and PIR series, an Excel-based viewer for Publication 116 external dose conversion coefficients, an EDC viewer for Publication 144 environmental dose-rate coefficients, and BiotaDC, a browser tool for non-human biota dose coefficients (Publication 136). Some older compilations were issued as standalone CDs (ICRP CD1, CD3).
For this graph, ICRP material is the primary reference for the physical dose coefficients that regulatory dose limits, radiopharmacy shielding calculations and internal dosimetry software ultimately rest on. The journal articles themselves sit behind a SAGE subscription/pay-per-issue paywall; the calculators, viewers and apps are free.
