IAEA nuclear data and isotope databases
A set of free online tools from the UN's nuclear agency that show the physical properties of every known radioactive atom, including the ones used in cancer scans and treatments.
Overview
The IAEA Nuclear Data Section maintains several linked, free web tools. The Live Chart of Nuclides (also an offline mobile app) gives an interactive chart of nuclear structure and decay data drawn mainly from the Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data Files (ENSDF), including half-lives, branching ratios, gamma-ray energies and intensities, and decay-scheme diagrams for essentially all known nuclides, with a Python API and CSV download service. A companion Medical Isotope Browser focuses on production routes and yield calculations for medically relevant isotopes, and a Decay Data Library Comparison tool lets users check discrepancies between evaluated libraries.
These tools underpin the physical constants (half-life, emission type and energy, branching ratio) that isotope records in this graph cite, and are also the reference the IAEA's own Rays of Hope initiative and Member State technical cooperation programmes use when planning isotope production and supply.
Access is free and does not require registration; the underlying evaluated data files (ENSDF and related libraries) are curated through the international Network of Nuclear Structure and Decay Data Evaluators that the IAEA coordinates.
