Theranostics
A fully free-to-read journal that publishes research combining diagnosis and treatment, including radioactive drugs.
Overview
Theranostics is a biweekly, fully open-access journal established in 2011 and published by Ivyspring International Publisher. It covers in vitro diagnostics and prognostics, in vivo molecular imaging, molecular therapeutics, image-guided therapy, biosensors, systems biology and translational and personalised medicine — a broad remit that in practice makes it one of the most frequently cited venues for new PET and SPECT radiotracers, radioligand therapy chemistry, and nanomedicine-based theranostic agents.
Articles are published under a CC BY-NC licence and are immediately free to read, with no subscription barrier; the journal states full compliance with NIH public access requirements. It is indexed in Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded), MEDLINE/PubMed and Scopus.
According to the journal's own indexing page, its Journal Citation Reports impact factor was 12.4 for the 2024 JCR release, up from 11.556 in the 2022 release; third-party trackers report further increases in more recent JCR cycles, which readers should verify against Clarivate directly given how fast the metric has moved.
