Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology
India's government isotope producer: it makes and sells the radioactive medicines used in Indian hospitals.
Overview
BRIT is a unit of India's Department of Atomic Energy and the country's main supplier of radiopharmaceuticals. Its own therapeutic product page lists sodium iodide I-131, I-131 mIBG, lutetium-177 EDTMP, lutetium-177 DOTATATE and lutetium-177 PSMA-617 injection in production - which means India manufactures domestically the same PSMA radioligand therapy that is sold in the West as Pluvicto, at a scale set by public supply rather than by a marketing authorisation.
The practical constraint is feedstock: India is not self-sufficient in molybdenum-99 or iodine-131, so hospital supply depends on reactor availability and imports. BRIT's site is intermittently unreachable from outside India, so the product list above was read in a browser session on 22 September 2026 rather than by an automated fetch, and the regulator route (CDSCO's approved-new-drugs PDFs) blocks scripts entirely.
